Warmest greetings from the Southern California Chapter of the American Liszt Society (ALS SoCal)!

ALS SoCal is excited to present our third biennial festival this coming fall. This year the Festival will be an online, virtual event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This festival will celebrate the legacy of Franz Liszt and present a platform to showcase the talent of young musicians of Southern California.

On November 20 and 21, 2021, we will present a two-day music festival. The first day of the Festival will include a Masterclass for Pre-College students with Professor Hans Boepple, a Pre-College student Recital, and A Music Documentary Celebrating 30 years of Los Angeles International Liszt Competition (LAILC). The second day of the Festival will feature a Masterclass for College students with British author, pianist and pedagogue Paul Roberts, a Lecture Recital with the Paul Roberts on the topic “Reading Liszt: Années de pèlerinage, Switzerland, and Literature” followed by a Q&A, a College student Recital, and the Announcement of the Award for the best Liszt performances in the Pre-College and College categories.


FEES:

The Festival is Free to view for the audience.

Pre-college or College Recital performance fee is $25

Pre-college or College Master class participation fee is $50.

*Deadline for participants to apply is October 1, 2021.

10:30amWelcome note from the ALS SoCal President, Dr. Dmitry Rachmanov and Vice-President Ivana Grubelic Malo, LAILC Directors Dr. Katherine Hickey and Dr. Éva Polgár, and Dr. Joel Clifft, who will announce the publication of “Seven Pieces for Piano” by Eugene Alcalay, ALS SoCal former president and Professor of the Piano at APU.
